The Hamilton County Grand Jury has indicted a 34-year-old area man for vehicular homicide in a July 7, 2012 fatal crash.

Roman York was charged in March in the death of Myra Eaker. Police say York was speeding the wrong way down Shallowford Road and collided with Eaker's vehicle, knocking it backward.

Eaker, 74, was a Soddy-Daisy resident, mother of four and grandmother to five, according to her obituary.

This is at least the second time York has been charged with DUI, according to court records, with the first in 2002. He pleaded guilty to that charge along with charges of harassment, assault, stalking and driving on a suspended license.

Judge Stephen Bevil gave York a suspended sentence in that case, which is common with first-time DUI charges.

In addition to the homicide charge, York faces two counts of reckless aggravated assault and one count of reckless endangerment.

He is scheduled for arraignment on June 21 in Criminal Court Judge Barry Steelman's courtroom.
