The City Council is expected to approve the following appointments Tuesday:

• Lamar Flint as fire chief

• Gayle Keown as city treasurer

• Todd Dockery as city human resources director

Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke on Friday appointed a 26-year veteran of the fire department as fire chief.

Lamar Flint, who has served as deputy chief of the Chattanooga Fire Department for the last 12 years, will succeed Randall Parker.

The new fire chief "has shown leadership during his time as Deputy Chief," Berke said in a news release. "He knows this department well and will do an outstanding job serving this city as Fire Chief."

Flint is certified as an emergency medical technician and as a National Fire Protection Association codes inspector. He currently oversees the fire inspection division, fire training and tactical services, the news release stated.

He serves on the Chattanooga State Fire Science Advisory Committee and was the 2010 recipient of the NAACP Ruby Hurley/Ralph Cothran Civil Service Officer of the Year award.

Flint is active in the community, serving as a board member for the Brainerd Youth Association and the River City Youth Football League, according to the release.

He is a little league football coach and deacon at Orchard Knob Baptist Church.
