Chattanooga plans some road closings over next couple of days

The Chattanooga traffic engineering office has reported that a number of roads will be closed over the next couple of days.

A news release said M.L. King Boulevard between Market Street and Georgia Avenue and Market Street between East Eighth Street and King Boulevard will be closed Friday from 5:30 p.m. to midnight for the Nightfall Concert Series. The 800 block of Cherry Street will be closed at King Boulevard and will only be accessible from East Eighth Street, the release said.

With the Riverbend runs set for Saturday, street and lane closures include Gateway Avenue/West Sixth Street from Cameron Hill Circle to Chestnut Street, the southbound curb lane of Chestnut Street from West Second Street to West Sixth Street, the eastbound curb lane of Second Street from Chestnut to Market streets, the northbound curb lane of Market Street from Second Street to Frazier Avenue, the eastbound curb lane of Frazier Avenue from the Market Street Bridge to the Walnut Street Bridge, eastbound Second Street from Market Street to Riverside Drive, the eastbound curb lane of Riverside Drive from Second Street to Houston Street, Houston Street between Riverside Drive and East Third Street, East Third Street from Houston Street to Mabel Street, Mabel Street from East Third Street to Battery Place, westbound Riverside Drive from the Boat House Restaurant to East Second Street, westbound King Boulevard from Gateway Avenue to Riverfront Parkway and northbound Riverfront Parkway from King Boulevard to a turnaround point just north of Adams Street.

The release said the Riverbend Fun Run/Walk will begin on Cameron Circle, turn right onto Gateway Avenue, cross south across King Boulevard to Boynton Drive, turn right on Boynton Drive and right onto the south sidewalk of King Boulevard and back the same way. The streets south of King Boulevard won't be closed, but motorists are advised to look out for runner.

The release said streets affected by these events will be closed from 6 to 11:30 am.

Additionally, the 1800 block of Duncan Avenue will be closed from 6 to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday for a block party.

On Sunday, Reggie White Boulevard between West 19th Street and the entrance to the Skate Park will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on for the Chattanooga Market.
