Jackson County, Ala., administrator Sandra Erickson was fired Monday for "gross neglect" as the county struggles with its budget, according to county officials.
Matthew Hodges, chairman of the county commission, said the county started advertising the position on Tuesday with hopes of filling it soon.
Neither Erickson nor her attorney could not be immediately reached for comment. Staff in Huntsville, Ala., attorney Julian Butler's office on Thursday said he was out of town until Monday.
Erickson had a three-year contract with the county that was renewed a little over a year ago.
Hodges said he's unaware of any plans by Erickson to appeal the firing, which came in a unanimous vote by the commission.
