A 24-year-old man is in custody after authorities say he tried to run over an Chattanooga police officer this morning.

Lebron Brown tried to run over Nathan Rogers on the 100 block of Elmwood Drive around 1:30 a.m., according to a news release from the police department.

Rogers shot Brown in the arm, but Brown was still able to flee the scene in the car, the release stated.

Brown was taken into custody after he later arrived at a hospital for treatment. He has been charged with attempted first degree murder and aggravated assault.

Rogers was not injured during the incident and has been placed on administrative leave with pay, which police say is standard procedure for an officer involved shooting.

The incident is still under investigation.
