A woman who accused a Catoosa County, Ga., assistant principal of assaulting a student has been arrested herself on charges that she lied to police.
Davida Caylor made a complaint against Heritage High School Assistant Principal Eric Beagles on Feb. 8 alleging that the school official had assaulted a student during school hours, Sheriff Gary Sisk said in a news release.
But after an investigation the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation decided the case was unfounded, Sisk said.
When the investigation was turned over to prosecutors, they decided Caylor should be charged with giving false statements and tampering with evidence.
When sheriff's deputies went to Caylor's house on Rolling Hills Drive she refused to be arrested, authorities said. Sisk said she then was charged with obstruction of a police officer and a second count of tampering with evidence.
Caylor remains in Catoosa County Jail awaiting a first appearance hearing.
