MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis police say an officer who was shot in the leg by a fellow policeman has been released from the hospital.

A Memphis Police Department statement released today says that 45-year-old Calvin Taylor is recovering after being released from the Regional Medical Center.

Police say Taylor was outside a home as organized crime unit officers served a drug-related search warrant Tuesday.

During the search, three pit bull dogs charged at an officer, who fired his shotgun at the animals, killing two of the dogs. Taylor was hit by shotgun pellets that penetrated a wall and was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.

Six people were arrested on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to sell. Officers recovered crack cocaine, two weapons and a digital scale from the house.
