Two DeKalb County, Ala., teens were arrested at separate high schools on drug charges, Sheriff Jimmy Harris said in a news release.
Harris said officers brought a drug dog to Geraldine High School on Thursday and the dog alerted on a car in the school parking lot. Officers found marijuana and paraphernalia in the vehicle and the school resource officer arrested Jacob E. Wade, 18, of Dawson.
The same day, school officials at Sylvania School reported to the SRO that some students smelled of marijuana. Cody James Wooten's car was searched and Wooten, 18, was charged with possessing marijuana and paraphernalia. A juvenile who also had paraphernalia was turned over to her parents.
Sheriff Harris says "This shows the importance of random K-9 drug searches at our schools that we do year round, and the importance of having school resource officers in our county."
