Mayor Ron Littlefield told an audience at the Memorial Auditorium that he has accomplished plenty in eight years in office.

"Chattanooga is cool and green and growing," Littlefield said this evening. "No longer dingy and declining. Chattanooga has status as a fast-advancing, youth attracting, 'cool' city. Nothing could be finer."

Littlefield gave his last "State of the City" speech before a small crowd of about 100. His tenure ends on April 15 as the administration of Mayor-elect Andy Berke takes office.

The mayor touted expanding greenways, reinvigorating the Department of Neighborhood Services, adding a city-wide wireless mesh network and supporting EPB's gigabit fiber optic system, helping lure Volkswagen and other large employers to Chattanooga, and boosting the number of police officers on the street and the salaries officers make.
