$2.6 million in grants renewed for area homeless programs

The federal government has renewed more than $2.6 million in homeless assistance projects in Chattanooga and Southeast Tennessee, according to news release.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development said the programs are funded under the Continuum of Care program competition. The local sum is part of $1.5 billion awarded nationwide.

The Continuum of Care program provides funding for transitional and permanent housing and supportive services.

In the region, that includes grants such as $631,054 for the Supportive Housing Program; $107,891 for the Family Housing and Learning Center; and $90,854 for Volunteer Behavioral Health, according to the release.
