Chattanooga police arrest man accused of shooting up a patrol car

Chattanooga police have arrested a 22-year-old man they believe shot up an officer's patrol car over the weekend.

Samuel Lemorris "Hitman" Ervin opened fire at Officer James Klein's car Saturday night while he was responding to a call. The car was struck numerous times in the 4100 block of Fagan Street. Klein was uninjured.

The patrol car was shot up just days after another officer suffered multiple gunshot wounds while responding to a call at East Lake Court housing project. He sustained nonlife-threatening injuries. An arrest was made the next day.

Ervin is a documented member of the Bounty Hunter Bloods gang, according to authorities.

He faces charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was also arrested for on a warrant for violating state parole.
