Chattanooga airport officials today approved a $7.2 million renovation for the passenger terminal.

The 9-month project will be the biggest revamp of the terminal since it opened in 1992.

The renovation, slated to start in May, will include a complete modernization of the main terminal building, including the installation of new carpet, tile, windows and updated rest rooms.

Terry Hart, president of the airport authority, said that the work will significantly improve the passenger experience while preserving the qualities of the existing facility.
