Perry StoreyNotre Dame High School's longtime principal, Perry Storey, will step down at the end of the 2012-13 school year to make way for the first school president, according to a letter sent to students, parents and staff.
Knoxville Dioceses Bishop Richard Stika announced the decision Monday, according to the letter.
The new president is George Valadie, an alumnus of Notre Dame High School.
"I have known George for many years," Storey said in the letter, "and know that as an alumnus, along with the support of the bishop and the superintendent, he will continue the great tradition and legacy of Notre Dame."
Storey took over as principal in 1996. During his time there, the school saw the construction of the Erickson Library Media Center and the Varallo Athletic Center, as well as a number of renovations and updates.
"Every day I have been blessed to work with such a dedicated faculty and staff who have supported me," Storey said.
