Police officer helps mother deliver baby on side of Atlanta road

ATLANTA - A newborn boy and his mother are expected to be fine after the woman went into labor in her car in metro Atlanta.

Fulton County police Cpl. David Williamson was directing traffic when a woman told him from her car window that she was going into labor.

Williamson says he and the woman's husband worked together to deliver the baby boy and paramedics arrived soon after.

Authorities say the new father was able to cut the boy's umbilical cord before the mother and her son were taken to Northside Hospital.
