Relatives of slain Fort Benning soldier speak out after killing in Alabama

PHENIX CITY, Ala. - Relatives of a Fort Benning soldier found dead in Alabama say his wife asked for a divorce before he was slain.

Now, the woman and her boyfriend are both charged with murder in the gunshot killing of the soldier.

Relatives of Sgt. First Class Donald Lashon Wilson spoke about his killing with WTVM-TV.

Sister Kendra Wilson-Hudson says Wilson told her his wife had asked for a divorce. The couple began dating in 2007 and married in 2011.

Russell County sheriff's officials say 34-year-old Gloria Wilson and her 27-year-old boyfriend, Travis Leonard, are charged in the killing.

The dead man's mother says Leonard moved in with Wilson's wife after the soldier deployed.

It's unclear whether either suspect has a lawyer.

Leonard will be buried in his hometown of Sylacauga.
