Three men were arrested and charged with drug-related offenses after a search of a DeKalb County, Ala., home, a news release from Sheriff Jimmy Harris states.

The search warrant, the result of an investigation into drug activity in Marshall and DeKalb counties, was served by members of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, the Marshall County Drug Unit and the FBI's Safe Streets Task Force.

Officers found more than 2 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, $1,600 in cash and a firearm. Canine Mako and his handler found the drugs hidden in a home off of County Road 9033 near Aroney, the release states.

The street value of the meth is about $4,000, authorities said. The suspects were arrested on state charges, and federal charges are pending.

Fernando Castro Alanis, 29, and Osblando Castro Alanis, 25, both of Boaz, Ala., are charged with drug trafficking and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Miguel Angel Ramos, 21, of Albertville, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

The suspects are being held at the DeKalb County Detention Center.

Sheriff Harris said he is "glad to have these suspects off the street. It appears there was quite a bit of drug activity around these men. We are checking on their status here while we wait on the [Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives] and FBI to pursue federal charges for the weapon and drugs."
