The Chattanooga Animal Control Board has until next month to complete a comprehensive animal ordinance, which will include rules for keeping chickens inside the city limits.
Board Chairman Mike Mallen said today he expected to have a "complete package" before the city council by June 25, so the council could review and decide on the ordinance by July 2.
The animal board is only drafting the ordinance and does not have the authority to pass laws. The City Council will ultimately decide what the ordinance includes and if it's adopted.
