Driver of pick-up said in report to have caused Hixson Pike crash

The driver of a black Ford F-150 extended truck traveling in the wrong lane led to a Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department vehicle crashing this afternoon and then the shutting the 1900 block of Hixson Pike to traffic.

A Hamilton County Sheriff's Office news release said a 2012 Ford F-350 medical response truck was traveling in the southbound lane of the 9100 block of Hixson Pike when the driver saw the F-150 coming toward him in his lane. Trying to avoid a collision, the fire department vehicle veered off the road and hit a concrete culvert and power pole.

Those in the fire department vehicle were taken by private vehicle to an area hospital where they were treated, the release said.

Investigators with the sheriff's traffic division are asking anyone with information on the accident to call the dispatcher at (423) 622-0022.
