A coalition of neighborhood groups plans to go to the Chattanooga City Council and Chattanooga-Hamilton County Transportation Planning Organization and ask those panels to stop a road project through Lincoln Park.
City workers are extending Central Avenue to Amnicola Highway, adjacent to Erlanger hospital.
The Coalition to Save Lincoln Park, a group made up of several neighborhood organizations, stated in a news release Tuesday it plans to speak to the transportation planning organization and council about the proposed road extension.
The group said in the news release that it is fearful of the road going through historic Lincoln Park, which once was the city's only black-only park.
