Just briefly: McCallie to host education lecture

As part of its Vann Lecture series, McCallie School will host John Swallow on Monday.

Swallow, the J.T. Kimbrough Professor of Mathematics and Humanities at Davidson College and a graduate of the University of the South, will address upper-school students on the changing nature of American education.

His speech, "Education and Intellectual Habits, Old and New," will address the intellectual habits he sees in his students, due in part to their having grown up with the Internet, and what they mean for liberal arts education. The speech is at 9:50 a.m. in the McCallie Chapel.

For more information, call McCallie's Public Affairs Office at 423-493-5615.
