Jack Daniel Distillery helps troops get home for holidays

LYNCHBURG, Tenn. - The Jack Daniel Distillery in Tennessee is helping military service members and their families travel home for the holidays.

The distillery at Lynchburg has made a $100,000 donation for "Operation Ride Home" and urges its fans to contribute.

The distillery is teaming with Armed Services YMCA for the project, which helps junior-enlisted members from every branch of service.

In the past two years, the project has assisted 820 service members and their families, for a total of 2,040 people. Troops traveled to 44 states.

The campaign provides vouchers for plane tickets -- averaging $300 to $400 per person -- or $100 prepaid debit cards to help with gas, lodging and food.

Jack Daniel's is the flagship brand for Louisville, Ky.-based Brown-Forman Corp.
