The "America Tonight" feature on local radio icon Luther Masingill will appear on the Al-Jazeera network Friday at 9 p.m., according to a news release. Producer Sopan Deb, a cameraman and anchor Adam May were here to follow Masingill around for three days in late October.

"Obviously, anything can happen, but right now the story is potentially scheduled to run on Friday," said Deb. "I have been following Luther's career for years and I hope to do his story justice."

A book signing also is scheduled for Saturday from 2-4 p.m. at Barnes & Noble at Hamilton Place featuring Masingill and authors James Howard and Bolly Abernathy. The two co-wrote "My Life with Luther: A Glimpse of a Legendary American Broadcaster."

Masingill, best known to Chattanoogans as simply Luther, began his career on New Year's Eve in 1940 and has been with the same station, in the same time slot ever since. In November 2012, he was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame.

"America Tonight" airs on Chattanooga Comcast channel 107 and EPBFI channel 149.
