A house fire at 2506 Goforth Lane did "substantial" damage to an elderly Chattanooga couple's home this evening, according to a Chattanooga Fire Department release.
Around 7:05 p.m., CFD responded to an alarm for the fire. Fire crews found flames erupting from the rear of the house of Ronald and Sofia Fields when they arrived.
The Fields were able to escape the house without injury, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
