Alabama governor meets with Japanese executives

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley is using his trip to Japan to meet with executives of companies that have operations in Alabama.

A spokesman for the governor said he and other top state economic development officials met Wednesday with the chairman of Toyota and discussed the ongoing expansion of Toyota's engine plant in Huntsville. Toyota has invested $850 million in the plant, which has nearly 1,200 workers.

Prior to visiting Toyota, Bentley met with the president and CEO of Otsuka Holdings. It is the parent company of Pharmative, which has a vitamin plant in Opelika that employs 240 workers.
