Dr. Ihassan Al-Amin has pleaded guilty in federal court to three of the 105 counts against him alleging illegal pain pill prescribing and tax evasion.
Al-Amin, also known as Robert O'Neil Robertson, first pleaded not guilty in his arraignment the day DEA and IRS agents raided his two clinics at 4719 Brainerd Road in May 2012.
On Nov. 1, 2013, Al-Amin took a plea agreement with federal prosecutors. Today he pleaded guilty to one charges of illegally dispensing hydrocodone and two charges of trying to hide the proceeds to avoid taxes owed on money he earned from the illegal transactions.
He faces up to 10 years in prison on the pill charge and five years each for the two tax evasion counts against him. His sentencing is scheduled for March 20, 2014.
