AUBURN, Ala. - An Auburn University fraternity is suspended from campus over claims that brothers mistreated new members.
The Opelika-Auburn News reports that the university's chapter of the Sigma Chi social fraternity has been suspended by the national fraternity for hazing.
The group can't operate again at Auburn until January 2015.
Chapter officer Michael Ciatto says the allegations included claims about long, late-night study halls. Others claims included allegations that new members called pledges were forced to run errands for initiated brothers and take them to class.
The hazing was reported through an anonymous hotline set up by the school.
Sigma Chi is one of Auburn's oldest fraternities, dating back to 1934. Members must move out of the chapter house by Dec. 21.
