MABLETON, Ga. - Police say officers shot and killed a man during a domestic dispute in Atlanta's northwest suburbs.
Authorities say the shooting happened shortly before 1 a.m. today at a home in the Cobb County city of Mableton.
Cobb County police Sgt. Dana Pierce says investigators responded to the house to look into an ongoing domestic incident.
Pierce said that while police were speaking to a woman in the front yard, a man drove up, got out of the car and pointed a weapon at officers. Police say officers then opened fire, striking the man.
WXIA-TV reports that the suspect was taken to Atlanta Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His name wasn't released.
Pierce said no police officers were hurt.
Mableton is about 12 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta.
