Chattanooga road closings for special events announced

The Chattanooga Transportation Department has announced some Chattanooga roads will be closed over the next couple of days for special events.

They include:

- Van Ness Road from Lee Highway to Vance Road and the eastbound curb lane of Lee Highway from Chickamauga Road to Vance Road will be closed Thursday from 7 to 11 a.m. for the Sports Barn Turkey Trot. Runners will also be on Vance Road, Chickamauga Road, Bass Road, Nicklin Drive, Brown Road, Osborne Drive, and Benham Drive. These roads will not be closed, but motorists are asked to watch for runners in these areas. The westbound curb lane of Lee Highway from the Sam's Club/Sports Barn Driveway to Jubilee Drive will be closed for the Turkey Trot Walk.

- The eastbound curb lane of Cherokee Boulevard from Manufacturers Road to the Market Street Bridge, Frazier Avenue from the Market Street Bridge to Tremont Street, Tremont Street from Frazier Avenue to River Street and Market Street, both directions and side streets from Frazier Avenue to M. L. King Boulevard, will be closed Thursday from 8 to 11 a.m. for the Grateful Gobbler Walk For the Homeless. Motorists are asked to watch for pedestrians in these areas. Emergency vehicles will be accommodated, and the streets will be opened as soon as possible.

- West 37th street from Carl White Place to Alton Park Boulevard, Alton Park Boulevard from West 37th Street to West 38th Street, West 39th Street from Alton Park Boulevard to Central Avenue and Central Avenue from West 38th Street to West 45th Street will be closed Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. for the Southside Christmas Parade.
