The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga swept the Southern Conference football coaches' top postseason awards, which were released today.

Russ Huesman was voted coach of the year, his son Jacob, the Mocs' quarterback, was voted offensive player of the year and defensive end Davis Tull repeated as defensive player of the year.

The coaches' voting was much different than the media's, which voted Furman's Bruce Fowler as the top coach, Samford quarterback Andy Summerlin as the offensive player of the year and Samford linebacker Justin Shade as defensive player of the year.

UTC, Samford and Furman finished in a three-way tie for first in the SoCon. Samford and Furman are headed to the playoffs, while the Mocs' season is done at 8-4.

UTC tight end Faysal Shafaat and right guard Kevin Revis made the coaches' and media's first-team offense. Tull, safety D.J. Key and cornerback Kadeem Wise made both first-team defenses.

Linebacker Wes Dothard made the coaches' first team and media's second. Defensive tackle Josh Freeman made the coaches' and media's second team, and kick returner Chaz Moore made the coaches' second team. Jacob was the media's second-team quarterback.

Left tackle Corey Levin, running back Derrick Craine and defensive end Keionta Davis made the coaches' all-freshman team. Noticeably absent from that list was starting cornerback Dee Virgin, who started nine games and had two interceptions.
