Come 5:30 this afternoon, one of downtown Chattanooga's best-known holiday traditions will light up just in time for the long Thanksgiving weekend.

EPB staff will unveil this year's holiday windows, filled with thousands of colored LED lights, Christmas trees, animated characters in winter wonderland scenes and plenty of snow.

"It's amazing, the amount of talent that helped put our 2013 holiday windows together. This is EPB's way of giving something special to the community for the holidays," Angela Taylor, EPB manager of resource planning, said in a news release.

The EPB holiday windows have been a local tradition for more than 60 years.

Today's unveiling will begin with a special event at the corner of Market Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard that will include balloons and candy for children.

The holiday windows will remain open for the community to enjoy through Jan. 2.
