New Orleans man identified as tractor trailer driver in I-40 crash

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a New Orleans man driving a tractor trailer died in Wednesday's fatal bus crash on Interstate 40 in northeastern Tennessee.

Officers on Friday identified the man as 66-year-old Mose Farmer, who was operating a 2014 Volvo Tractor Trailer loaded with paper towels and headed for B.A.H. Express out of Calhoun, Ga.

Farmer's vehicle was struck by a bus was carrying a group of seniors from a Statesville, N.C., church back home from a trip to a three-day festival in Gatlinburg, Tenn., featuring gospel singers and speakers.

The collision left the bus on its side next to the tractor-trailer, the wreckage extending across two lanes of traffic and partly into the median. Eight people died and 14 others were hurt.
