Guitar player in Tennessee wanted in Illinois bank robbery

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Police say a guitar player approached by officers for trespassing in Nashville turned out to be wanted by the FBI in an Illinois bank robbery.

Nashville police said in a release that 23-year-old Derrick W. Holmes was sitting in a window with a guitar in the city's Broadway entertainment district on Sunday night. The officers went to speak to Holmes about a no trespassing sign posted at the building.

In what police describe as a "routine check" of Holmes' name, they were notified that he was a suspect in an armed bank robbery in Freeport, Ill., on Sept. 26.

Holmes was arrested on a charge of being a fugitive from justice. No information was immediately available on whether Holmes had an attorney.
