Small gas leak prompts 'just in case' safety at Lookout Mounatin Elementary

During routine work on natural gas lines at Lookout Mountain Elementary School on Thursday afternoon, a small gas leak sprung and prompted officials to get kids to upper floors, just in case.

A Lookout Mountain Police Department spokesman said the school was already letting kids out for the day, and moving them away from the leak was simply precautionary.

Gas crews will work overnight into Friday to repair the leak, and regular school scheduling is not expected to change. Officials say there is no danger to students.
