GULF SHORES, Ala. - Gulf Shores is hosting the 42nd annual National Shrimp Festival this weekend.
The fair-like event began Thursday, and it continues through Sunday at the public beach in Gulf Shores.
Tropical Storm Karen briefly delayed setup of the festival last weekend, but the storm didn't cause any other problems and forecasters are predicting sunny weather this weekend.
Dozens of food and craft vendors are set up, and admission is free. Organizers are planning 10K and 5K runs, and there's a sand sculpture contest on Saturday.
The musical lineup includes the alternative rock band Everclear on Saturday night.
