Tennessee couple held in Maryland slaying case

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Police say a Nashville couple trekked to Maryland, killed a woman there and returned home before being arrested.

The Tennessean reported that 62-year-old Baldeo Taneja and his wife, 63-year-old Raminder Kaur, are charged with killing Taneja's ex-wife, 49-year-old Preeta Gabba at her Montgomery County, Md., home on Saturday morning.

Police say Taneja was scheduled to be in a Maryland courtroom last Thursday in connection with a civil matter concerning Gabba, but did not show.

Detectives say that Taneja and Kaur were both in Montgomery County on Friday and Saturday. They were arrested Sunday after returning home.

They are each being held in Nashville in lieu of $500,000 bond as fugitives from justice. Jail records did not list an attorney for either person.
