JACKSON, Tenn. - Federal prosecutors say a man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for his involvement in the shooting of a West Tennessee police chief.
The U.S. attorney's office says 40-year-old Craig Barbee was sentenced last week for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Barbee was involved in a May 2012 robbery at the Dollar General Store in Friendship, which resulted in the shooting of Friendship Police Chief Bill Garrett.
Garrett was off-duty when he was shot. He was seriously injured but survived.
Barbee, of Dyersburg, already has been found guilty in state court of attempted second degree murder and other charges. He received a 106-year sentence in that case.
The federal sentence runs at the same time as the state sentence.
