NASHVILLE -With no statewide elected office holders to call their own, Tennessee Democrats say they're counting on U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., to "energize" the troops at the state party's annual Jackson Day Dinner this Saturday.

Kaine, a former governor, was elected to the Senate in 2012 to represent Virginia, a state where Democrats have remained competitive.

The Tennessee event will feature remarks from state Democratic Party Chairman Roy Herron and includes a "salute" to state mayors and local elected officials. Among those attending will be Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke, a former state senator, according to a state party news release.

The dinner will be held at the Musicians Hall of Fame in Nashville.
