LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. - Police have arrested a Tennessee mother and her boyfriend on charges of murder and abuse in the death of the woman's 4-month-old child.
The Columbia Daily Herald reports the Lawrence County grand jury returned indictments last week against 22-year-old Meagan Marie Forsythe and 34-year-old Joshua Temple Bagwell in the December 2012 death of the boy.
Lawrence County Sheriff's Captain Adam Brewer said in a statement that the child was in the hospital for four days when the decision was made to remove life support.
Brewer said doctors determined the infant's injuries occurred in the days before the child was taken to the hospital and an autopsy found blunt force injuries. The State Medical Examiner's Office ruled the death a homicide.
It was unclear whether the couple had an attorney.
