Two 19-year-old brothers have been arrested after a person was stabbed during a fight.

Bruce Walter Bender and Paul Walter Bender, both of 1409 Threadmill Drive in Dalton, were charged with aggravated assault, according to a news release from the Dalton Police Department.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday morning, according to the release.

Eddie Meraz came to the emergency room at Hamilton Medical Center and reported that he had been shot, police said.

Investigators later determined Meraz had actually been stabbed with some sort of knife and was not shot.

One of the victim's friends reported that a group of friends were traveling home from a wedding when they noticed a car tailgating them. The victim's friend reported hearing gun shots, and that at one point Eddie Meraz fell out of the car.

Meraz's friend told investigators Meraz thought he had been shot.

This incident is still being investigated by the Dalton Police Department.
