82-year-old Nashville woman killed in house fire

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Fire investigators have determined that careless smoking started a blazed that killed an 82-year-old Nashville woman.

According to WKRN-TV the fire was reported around 4 a.m. Sunday.

Officials say Helen McMurtry was inside the home at the time of the fire and died while the front of the home erupted in flames.

The victim's grandson, Bryan Espinoza, went to the scene Sunday afternoon with other family members to try to salvage family keepsakes and photos. He says the situation is "devastating."
