The company that operates the Delta Queen Boat and Hotel on the north shore of the Tennessee River downtown today denied that the Delta Queen "has fallen behind on its rent payments."

Leah Ann Ingram, who is president and an owner of Delta Queen LLC, said, "When we were first given notice by the city of unpaid rent on July 11, we were shocked."

She said they have told the city on repeated occasions and the city's figures are incorrect, and "the city refused to provide us with any documentation to support their incorrect claim."

Ingram is a member of a group that wants to buy and renovate the Delta Queen with the goal of making it an overnight river cruise business.

A news release said the group has told Chattanooga officials they want to discuss making Chattanooga the home port for Delta Queen cruises.
