A federal prisoner pleaded guilty Monday to conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in a 2006 Monroe County, Tenn., killing.
Charles Kaczmarczyk, 59, who is in a federal prison in Kentucky, was indicted by the Monroe County grand jury in August and pleaded guilty Monday to one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
He was sentenced to 25 years in state custody in the death of Robert J. McClancy, 56, of Tellico Plains, Tenn.
On May 15, 2006, McClancy was found dead in a recliner in his home at 215 Unicoi Lake Road, a news release states. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a possible shooting and found McClancy in the chair with a pistol in one hand and a bottle of pills in the other. He had not been shot.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation identified McClancy's friend Kaczmarczyk, who said that he and McClancy's wife, Martha Ann McClancy, conspired to kill Robert McClancy by causing him to overdose on prescription medication.
McClancy's widow now is married to Kacmarczyk.
