ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) -- Gov. Robert Bentley is offering a $10,000 reward in two rape cases in Calhoun and Talladega counties that investigators believe are connected.
Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson and Talladega County Sheriff Jimmy Kilgore said the rapes occurred almost a year apart, but they appear to be the act of one person. In both cases, the women said their attacker drove a white car and followed them home.
The Calhoun County case involved an 82-year-old woman who was attacked on July 15, 2012. The Talladega County case involved a 67-year-old woman who was attacked on July 28. Their homes are about 30 miles apart.
The governor's spokeswoman said he posted a $5,000 reward in 2012 for the Calhoun County attack and now he's added $5,000 for the Talladega County case.
