Ooltewah High School Principal Mark Bean has retired, school board Chairman Mike Evatt confirmed today.
Bean and Ooltewah Assistant Principal Beverly Hollingsworth were placed on unpaid suspension last week while central office investigated the pair for possible "unprofessional conduct."
Bean, a longtime teacher, coach and administrator in the school system, put in his retirement papers this week, Evatt said. Evatt didn't know the status of Hollingsworth's employment and didn't want to comment further on the case.
"I can confirm that he has turned in his retirement letter," Evatt said.
Another assistant principal, Jim Jarvis, is acting as interim principal of the school, which is Hamilton County's second largest by enrollment.
