Sequatchie County constable arrested on child rape charges

Sequatchie County Constable David Eugene Broome, 61, was arrested Monday by Tennessee Bureau of Investigation officers after he was indicted on child rape charges by the Sequatchie County Grand Jury.

According to a TBI news release, in December 2012 and January 2013, Broome, who is from Signal Mountain, Tenn., allegedly had "sexual contact" with an 8-year-old girl at his home.

Broome is now at Sequatchie County Jail and is being held without bond. He will appear in court on Friday, Sept. 27.

He was indicted on one count of rape of a child, according to the TBI.

Broome is listed as president of Mountain City Service, a plumbing company based on Signal Mountain, according to the company website.
