Two southbound I-75 lanes near Dalton to close this weekend

Two southbound lanes of Interstate 75 near Dalton, Ga., will be closed all weekend as part of the Georgia Department of Transportation's reconstruction of the Rocky Face interchange in Whitfield County.

The two inside lanes of I-75 South at Exit 336/State Route 3/US 41 will be closed from 9 p.m. today until 5 a.m. on Monday so pavement can be placed on the inside shoulder in preparation for an upcoming traffic shift. This paving work and the lane closure are weather-permitting and subject to change.

The Rocky Face interchange project also includes the construction of four bridges and installation of intersection video detection systems. Work on this project has just begun. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2016, at a construction cost of nearly $34 million.
