Tennessee man arrested after thumb hacked at party

JELLICO, Tenn. - A LaFollette man is in the Campbell County jail after being charged with hacking off part of another man's thumb at a party with a machete-like knife.

WBIR-TV reported that 30-year-old Josiah Fronckowiak faces charges of aggravated assault, aggravated trespassing and public intoxication.

The Campbell County Sheriff's Office says Fronckowiak was asked to leave the Starlight Tavern in Jellico sometime around 1 a.m. Sunday. Fronckowiak went next door to a house party.

The residents asked him to leave there, deputies say, and Fronckowiak got a 12-inch machete-like knife, came back, and started swinging. One man lost part of his thumb and was transported for medical care. Others subdued Fronckowiak until deputies could arrive.

Jail records did not list an attorney for Fronckowiak.
