An anonymous donor has offered a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons responsible for a possible case of dog fighting that is being investigated by McKamey Animal Center officials.
In mid-March a dog was discovered on the 5000 block of Dorsey Street, severely injured with multiple wounds indicating he had been fought lots of times, and area residents reported it to McKamey.
Animal Services Officer Swafford responded and discovered a male pit bull with numerous wounds from bites and possible broken bones. The dog was taken to McKamey for treatment, but because of the severity of his injuries, the dog was later euthanized.
Two weeks later, a female pit bull was discovered close to the Dorsey location with similar wounds and brought to McKamey for treatment. The female pit bull's injuries were not as severe, and she has made a full recovery. She has also passed assessments and remains at the animal center awaiting adoption.
