Police: Car chased by officers in GA plows into bus stop

UNION CITY, Ga. - Police near Atlanta are searching for a driver they say crashed into a pedestrian at a bus stop during a police chase, seriously injuring a woman.

Authorities say the driver also collided with an SUV during the chase late Thursday night. They say it began when the driver eluded Fairburn police officers during a traffic stop.

Police tell WSB-TV the ordeal ended about a half-mile later, when the driver crashed into an SUV and then a MARTA bus stop in Union City. Police said the suspect could not open the doors of his Dodge Charger after the wreck, so he climbed out the sunroof and ran.

Fairburn police said the most serious injury involved a 31-year-old woman at the bus stop, who was in serious condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.
