Scott Schebler had quite the season with Rancho Cucamonga in the high Single-A California League last year.

His first week with the Lookouts hasn't been too shabby.

Schebler's first performance with Chattanooga occurred in Tuesday night's exhibition game against Chattanooga State, when he hit a two-run single to left field. He hit a two-run home run to right in Thursday night's 11-inning loss to Jackson and accounted for all the scoring in Friday's 2-0 triumph over the Generals with a two-run double to right.

The 23-year-old from Iowa couldn't continue the surge Saturday night, going 0-for-3 with a walk in Chattanooga's 6-1 loss.

"With the year Scott had last year, obviously a lot of people are going to be looking at him a lot closer," Lookouts manager Razor Shines said before Saturday's game. "We expect him to lead and lead by example. We expect him to play hard, and we expect the numbers to be there when all is said and done.

"I think he is a major league prospect, and I think he's going to have a big year. I don't want to jinx the kid, but we're expecting a big year from him."

Schebler was the Branch Rickey minor league player of the year in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization after hitting .296 with 27 homers and 91 RBIs in 125 games last season.

The Lookouts grabbed a 1-0 lead Saturday in the first inning on consecutive two-out doubles to center by Daniel Mayora and O'Koyea Dickson, but two fielding errors by Mayora at third base in the sixth inning led to three runs for the Generals. Jackson made it 4-1 in the eighth inning when a leadoff double to left by Daniel Paolini was followed by an RBI single to center by Ramon Morla.

Chattanooga and Jackson will play the fourth game in a five-game series today at 2:15.
